What’s been your best experience with WordPress?
Wow. It’s hard to narrow it down to one thing but I’ll try. One of the best experiences I’ve had is with the infinite flexibility of the software.
Along with small business sites and blogs, I’ve utilized WordPress to build private Intranets, digital asset management systems, commercial and residential product portals, membership sites, software sales tools, and much more.
Along with being able to power just about any site one can imagine, WordPress also has a powerful and giving community of people willing to help elevate each other.
Tell us a bit about your WordCamp Halifax talk.
My talk focuses on baseline security tactics, starting with awareness of the threats that exist and moving into a step-by-step checklist of what you can do to mitigate risk.
What’s your favourite thing about attending WordCamps?
Easy. The people I meet. I love hearing stories of how people found WordPress and what their goals are for their own sites. These conversations typically involve some aspect of an entrepreneurial spirit and I love sharing my own WordPress story with the hope that it will inspire others to follow their passion like I did, even if like me, they don’t consider themselves a developer or designer.
Recommend one to three people in the WordPress world to follow on social media!
ACK! There are so many great people to list! Oh ok, here goes…
Matt Cromwell – https://twitter.com/learnwithmattc
Not only did Matt and I find our dopelgangers in each other, but he’s a stand up guy and always fighting for and elevating those around him.
Isabelle Garcia – https://twitter.com/aicragellebasi
A truly passionate digital nomad (to WordCamps across the globe) and an amazingly genuine person. Isabelle is someone everyone should know.
Dwayne McDaniel – https://twitter.com/McDwayne
An empathetic heart of gold. Dwayne is not afraid to talk deeply the very first time he meets you and that’s refreshing. No walls. No B.S. He also organizes #wckaraoke after the after parties, even from afar!
If you could have any superhero power, what would it be?
Superhero power? Hmmm. A laser mounted in my artificial eye that shoots beams of positivity and love.
Brace yourself cranky-pants! Prepare to spread smiles!
