WordCamp Halifax 2019 Update

As you might have read in our earlier blog post, WordCamp Halifax 2019 was cancelled on September 7th due to hurricane Dorian. We have been unable to find a suitable date to reschedule due to so many upcoming event conflicts and unfortunately there will not be a WordCamp Halifax this year. WordCamp Central is issuing full refunds to attendees and local sponsors as of September 24th.

We are so disappointed about having to cancel this year’s WordCamp outright. However, we are already looking forward to WordCamp Halifax 2020. We don’t have a date set yet but we are considering dates in the spring and will keep you posted. In the meantime, we welcome all those interested to join us at our monthly WordPress Meetups where some of our planned speakers will be joining us. Hope to see you there!

Note: If you do not receive your refund within the next 7 days or have any questions about refunds, please email support@wordcamp.org. Please use the email you used to purchase your ticket and mention the event name, WordCamp Halifax 2019.

WordCamp cancelled due to hurricane Dorian

Due to the hurricane threatening high wind warnings in Halifax for tomorrow, and news from our Venue about the possibility of not being able to get in tomorrow if the power is out, we have decided with a heavy heart to cancel WordCamp for tomorrow.

We will be in touch as soon as we can with attendees about a possible rain date and refund policy. For the community who has helped us put this event together, we are so very sorry that we have had to cancel it with such short notice.

If you have any questions, please write directly to wordpresshalifax@gmail.com.

How To Prepare For WordCamp Halifax 2019 This Weekend

Know before you go to WordCamp Halifax 2019

The conference is just a few days away (holy!). We want to prepare you for all the WordPress and web topics you can handle. Read on to see how you can get the most out of WordCamp Halifax:

With just a few days left to get your tickets for WordCamp Halifax 2019, we want to prep you for all the WordPress and Online Business topics you can handle. Read on to get ready for this year’s WordCamp Halifax:

1) Make sure you have Breakfast, we have you covered the rest of the day

Yes, there will be coffee and tea.

Yes, your ticket includes a catered lunch. And afternoon snacks. And more snacks at the Afterparty.

But there’s a bit of space between the beginning of the conference and lunch, so make sure you arrive already fueled up for the day.

2) You don’t need to print a ticket, we’ll have your info on hand.

We’ll handle all the registration details, just show up and tell us your name. Our friendly volunteers will hand you your own personalized badge. Please note that tickets are not available at the door, so buy yours before 4 pm this Friday.

Registration starts at 8:00 am. Opening remarks begin at 8:45 am but if you’re late, we’ll have registration available all day. We’ve got you.

Also, you do not need to bring your laptop in order to get the most out of WordCamp. Some developer sessions may be beneficial to have one to follow along, but it’s not required.

Sessions are lecture-style in nature, not workshops. A laptop is great if you want to receive some free consulting time with Experts at the Happiness Bar (more on that later), and there are lots of outlets in the main lobby area to charge your devices.
