WordPress Halifax Meetup is July 17: get help on your site before the conference!

Did you know that there is a monthly WordPress meetup ready to help you with your site?

Our conference is branched from our main community hub, the WordPress Halifax Meetup. Meeting since 2016, we’re a welcoming group of users, WP professionals and everyone between. We’ve had people aged 18 to 88+ come out, and we’d love to see you, too.

Where: Volta Classroom. 1505 Barrington street

When: 7-9pm, Wednesday, July 17 (please RSVP as we have limited seats)

Cost: Our meetups are always free of charge.

What: Sometimes we have a local speaker come in to talk about a WordPress related topic for an hour. Then we follow up with a Happiness Bar.

Now, what in the heck is a Happiness Bar you’re wondering… While we can’t provide booze, we can provide smiles! The Happiness Bar is a chance to spend a few minutes with someone to get you unstuck. Topics that we cover include:

  • New To WordPress: for those just starting out or considering WP
  • Technical SOS: when you see code you don’t understand, hosting issues, etc
  • Graphics & Themes: help with CSS, themes and other items that deal with the aesthetics of your content
  • Marketing & Audience: help with getting more traffic, newsletters and critiques on the user experience of your site

Note that this is on a volunteer basis and depends on who shows up. You may need to talk to a few people to get something corrected, or at least point you in the right direction. In return, we ask that you pay it forward: come back to the Meetup so that you can help others with the new things you learn! Or, join the Facebook Group and chime in when you know the answer to something. No one is truly a WordPress expert, but we’re all experts in the experiences we have and our willingness to share.

What to bring: A cheerful attitude and your questions to help knock off that growing to-do list. It is important to bring a device to log into your site with. It’s hard to trouble shoot your special circumstance without it 😊
